Collaborative editing

Edit together.
Think clearly.

The real-time collaborative editor for teams that value focused writing. Every keystroke syncs instantly. Every decision has a home on the page.

Built for the way teams actually work

Most editors treat collaboration as an afterthought. OrbitHQ was built around it from the start.

01

Real-time, everywhere, instantly

Every keystroke propagates to everyone in the workspace without delay. Built on Yjs — an academic-grade conflict-free data type — OrbitHQ handles simultaneous edits gracefully. No merge step. No 'who saved last' debate.

  • WebSocket sync via Laravel Reverb
  • Presence indicators showing active collaborators
  • Offline edits queue and sync on reconnect
02

Fine-grained access control

Workspace roles (owner, admin, member, guest) set the floor. Per-page permissions let you override them — giving specific people read or write access to individual documents, regardless of their workspace role.

  • 4-tier role hierarchy: owner → admin → member → guest
  • Per-page permission overrides
  • Invitation links with role assignment
03

Every version. Every author.

Each save creates a revision. Browse the complete history of any page, see what changed and who changed it, and restore any prior version with one click. Your work doesn't disappear when someone has a bad day.

  • Complete page revision history
  • Author attribution per revision
  • One-click restore to any version

Questions

How is OrbitHQ different from Notion?

Notion is a database that happens to include a text editor. OrbitHQ is a real-time collaborative editor first. No blocks to configure, no properties to define — just write. The editing experience is closer to a shared document than a workspace builder.

How does real-time sync actually work?

OrbitHQ uses Yjs, a conflict-free replicated data type (CRDT), synchronised over WebSockets. Two people can edit the same sentence simultaneously and the document converges correctly — without either person losing their work. When you go offline, your edits queue and sync when you reconnect.

Who controls who can see and edit each page?

You do, at two levels. Workspace roles (owner, admin, member, guest) set the baseline for everyone. Per-page permissions let you override that baseline for any individual document — granting or restricting access to specific members regardless of their workspace role. Both levels are enforced server-side.

Can I invite people from outside my organisation?

Yes. Send a workspace invitation to anyone with an email address. They join as guests by default — read-only access. You control what they can see and edit at both the workspace and per-page level.

Is there a version history?

Yes — every save creates a revision. The free tier retains 7 days of history; Pro retains 90 days. You can browse the full history of any page, see what changed, and restore any previous version with one click.
